Photo Friday: Loud
Nothing defines loud as well as a Formula 1 car! (Well, not really.)

Lord Ganesh, Remover of Obstacles
At the Sharnga guest house in Auroville, we found this cute statue of Lord Ganesh, the remover of all obstacles, right in the middle of a small garden.
In case you've been going through the image EXIFs, these photos come from my new Canon DC40 DVD camcorder, and not the trusty old PowerShot A75.

Photo Friday: Angry
That's one angry little monkey who was convinced someone's out to steal its mango.
This pic comes from a weekend trip to Chamundi Hills, Mysore.

Photo Friday: Fancy
This one's inside the Golden Temple at Kushalnagar. It was almost evening when we came to this place and the lighting was not very good. Tamal has a few more photographs.

Photo Friday: Rest (don't miss this one!)
Photos:
(a) At Mahabalipuram; a much-needed rest after a hard morning's work.
(b) The monkey on the left is my favorite. I just love the way he/she is lazing around with nothing to do and not a care in the world (except gazing at me). This one's from Bandipur.
(c) That's Vinod. This one's also from Bandipur. After a long trek, resting by covering up his face to avoid the afternoon Sun. :-D

At Dakshin, Windsor Manor
Had been to Dakshin at Windsor Manor on account of my parents' wedding anniversary.
Dakshin, as the name suggests, is a pucca South Indian restaurant. But their prices are out of the world. One thali meal costs Rs.600 (including tax).

Photo Friday: Faces
I just love this photo. Each one has a different expression on his face. Nice contrast, isn't it?
This one's from a fort in Jodhpur in Rajasthan. More on this later. The guy on the left is a close friend of mine...
I especially like the expression of the one on the extreme right :~)

Candle-Light Dinner
At Hotel De L'Orient in Pondicherry. We started with a map of Pondicherry to search this place, ended up walking along a lot of roads before finding it. (Of course, we could've asked anyone familiar with the place for help, but that wouldn't have been a lot of fun, would it?). We had two pot for two masala chai there, sipping tea for more than two-and-a-half hours, discussing life among other things :)
Around the place, there are several French restaurants, including Rendezvous, another famous restaurant. We went there for dinner but didn't like the ambience of the place, so we left quickly.

Photo Friday: Ghostly
Is it scary at all? Naah, I don't think so O:~)
This one's from a trip to Kerala. There are some very beautiful pics from this trip, but I haven't had time to sort them out! :(

Photo Friday: Distorted
Travelling in an auto rickshaw on Indian roads can surely give you a distorted view on life.
But it's one experience *not* to be missed while you are here! :~)

Thirst Quencher
This was taken at the same restaurant in Pune where we had Parathas. The place was called Angeethi, but I don't remember which part of Pune it is in. In any case, the food was just okay, and the ambience was nothing to write home about.

Evening snack
The perfect snack for a wintry evening in Bangalore: corn on the cob. You can customize it according to your specific need for spice.

Parathas
Something yummy for the tummy. Tasty parathas at a downtown restaurant in Pune.
Photographing food is not an easy job, is it? Soon after I took this picture, I gobbled it up! O:)

Paragliding in Kamshet
Last week, I went paragliding at a place called Kamshet. It's near Pune in Maharashtra. More details on this in my travel blog (coming soon, I promise :~)).
Kamshet is very popular in India for paragliding pilots. Also met a lot of people there - David, Richard, Mauritz, Chicco among others. All the pilots were in Kamshet since the past few days. Chicco does tandem paragliding, so that first-timers can have a taste of the adventure. If you need more info on paragliding in Kamshet, do mail me and I'll send it to you. My mail ID is shruthi @ (this domain).
David is with Airworks Paragliding School in the UK. If you're interested in learning to paraglide, visit Airworks Paragliding School for more information!
In case you are interested to learn paragliding in India, check out the folks at Nirvana Adventures. They have a very nice place for paragliding adventures and friendly people. The contact person there is Mr.Sanjay. When we landed in Kamshet, this was the first place we tried, but unfortunately they were full and so we went in for Melissa's place.
I had done parasailing previously, where a Tata Sumo would drive around an open area with a glider attached to it. But it wasn't nearly as exciting as paragliding.

A Piece of History at the Chandragiri Fort Museum
This one is from a museum at the Chandragiri Fort near Tirupathi. There are several such stone idols of Hindu Gods.
The one above depicts Lord Maheshwar (also known as Eeshwar) and His wife, Uma.

Billboard Workers
One evening, on MG Road (Bangalore), I saw this group of people working hard on setting up a billboard. The Sun was about to set and I thought it looked like a good picture.

Me
Your hostess.
This was taken on a bus from Tirumala to Tirupathi. More on this later, in my soon-to-be-created (yes, yes) Travel Blog.

Surya
An entrance guarded by Surya (the Sun God) himself. I forgot where this one was, but I remember taking this on the way to Bandipur.
As usual, overhanging wires spoiled this photo.

Seven-legged Spider
Can anyone help me identify this? It looks like the spider lost one leg in combat. I actually hate spiders :-)
This was taken in Bangalore's Bannerghatta National Park.

Visitor Center
This is a Visitors' Center in Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite. I plan to create a separate category for my photos from Yosemite.
Don't you just love the red fire hydrant?
